Overview of tasks

48 buildings, 3 car parks and nearly 7,000 rooms spread across three sites in the city of Wuppertal – this too is the University of Wuppertal. A lot has to be done, managed and directed so that around 23,000 people can work, study and conduct research purposefully every day.

At the BUW, it is the Department of Building, Safety and Environmental Management that is responsible for creating the conditions required for everyone to work successfully.

It is responsible for lighting, electricity and the right room climate in more than 40 lecture halls, more than 100 seminar rooms and thousands of other rooms, offices and labs. By performing building-related tasks as a customer-oriented service provider, it provides support for the primary processes of research, teaching, study and continuing education at the BUW. We ensure the smooth running and upkeep of land, buildings and a large number of operational systems over a net internal area of approx. 250,000 m².
